When I say I use this all-purpose seasoning on everything, I mean it. We season our steaks with it. I sprinkle it over buttered popcorn for the kids. It's even wonderful on scrambled eggs. It truly is an all-purpose seasoning!
But, seriously, it’s awesome and you only need one measuring spoon and a few basic pantry spices. It's a ratio recipe so you can use a spoon, a cup measure, or a bucket. As long as you get the ratio right, it'll work! I double, triple, or quadruple the recipe depending on what I'm doing. Store it in an airtight container. That’s it!
My all-purpose seasoning also a fantastic idea for a last minute hostess gift. I hope you guys will try it out and add it to your favorite go-to seasoning blends!

Why You Should Make Your Own Seasonings
I am such a huge fan of making my own seasoning and spice blend recipes. I control what goes in them, and there is never any filler or unwanted ingredients. A lot of store-bought seasoning blends also contain anti-clumping agents. You don't need or want stuff like that in your body.
If you're new to this sort of thing, start small. Begin a collection of basic herbs and spices and build from there. Start making your own blends (or use some of my recipes). It makes a difference. Your palate will become accustomed to fresh spices and herbs and it will transform your cooking. Promise.
Recipe Tips and Tricks
- Use a good quality, airtight container to store this all-purpose seasoning blend in. It will stay fresher, longer. Deli containers or mason jars with lids are even great!
- There are no fillers, preservatives, or anti-caking agents in this recipe, therefore it can clump. If this happens, simply shake the container or break it up with a fork.
Variations and Substitutions
- Make this seasoning blend spicy by adding red chili flakes or cayenne, to your taste.
- I use smoked paprika in this recipe because it is my favorite version of the spice. If you have regular or sweet paprika, it will work just fine!
- Chipotle powder would add heat and smoke flavor that would be amazing. Just add it to your taste.

If stored properly, in a cool, dry place, this will stay good 1-3 years. Never have I ever had any last that long.
