This savory snack mix is the one you need one snack recipe that does everything — after-school crunch, game-day munch, holiday hostess gift, and cocktail hour snicky-snack — this is it. Three cereals, pretzels, oyster crackers, nuts + butter + bold seasoning = a kitchen hero mix you’ll keep making again and again!
Tested, tasted, and devoured in my own kitchen — because if it’s not crave-worthy, it doesn’t make it to the blog.

Homemade wins every time — you control the salt, the flavor, and the satisfaction of knowing you made it yourself. Store-bought mixes? Sodium bombs full of preservatives that could outlive us all. At least here, you’re calling the shots.
And honestly, I’ve never made this savory snack mix the same way twice. I keep the basics stocked, but the nuts, pretzels, and extras change depending on what’s hiding in the pantry — and that’s half the fun!
This savory snack mix nails the balance of buttery richness, salty crunch, and bold flavor. It’s endlessly customizable, addictively snackable, and the kind of recipe that never makes it to the pantry because everyone’s “just tasting.”

A Note About The Seasoning
I use my all-purpose seasoning for this recipe. We put it on everything and it's so easy to make. It's a perfect blend of savory, salty, with the right amount of herb flavor. I highly recommend you try it!
If you use another all-purpose seasoning with this savory snack mix, be mindful that it will have a different salt content.
How To Not Mess It Up
- Coat evenly: Stir until every piece is glossy and well covered — no butter puddles or dry corners.
- Use two baking sheets: Don’t crowd the pan or you’ll end up with sad, soggy bits instead of golden crunch.
- Let it cool: Fresh from the oven it’s still soft. Give it a few minutes, then snack away.
- Never bag it warm: Warm mix traps steam = soggy mix (and possibly mold). Let it cool completely before storing.
- Crunch refresh: If you live somewhere humid and it softens over time, pop it in the oven at 200 °F for 10–15 mins to restore crunch.
You Do You and Make It Your Own
The beauty of this savory snack mix is its flexibility — toss in whatever you’ve got and make it your own.
Mix-in ideas:
- Cheez-Its, Goldfish, or mini saltines
- Bagel or rye chips
- Cheerios or other cereals
- Pistachios, almonds, or your favorite nuts/seeds
I used peanuts and cashews because that’s what my kids demanded — but anything crunchy and salty combo you like works. You can even leave them out completely if thats what you want!

I recommend storing it in resealable jars like deli containers or mason jars. Reusable zip top bags like Stasher bags are also wonderful options.

This savory snack mix, if stored properly, will be good for about a month. However, never in the history of ever has our mix lasted this long.
