Pull Up A Chair & Let's Chat!

If there’s one recipe that can handle a Tuesday night dinner and a full-blown game-day crowd, it’s these Cheeseburger Sliders. They’re juicy, cheesy, baked on soft rolls, and come with a creamy, tangy burger sauce that everyone inevitably asks for the recipe to. My kids inhaled these the first time I made them, and honestly? The adults weren’t far behind.

Why It Works

  • True weeknight ease. Simple ingredients, minimal prep, and baked all at once — no babysitting individual burgers.
  • Big, juicy cheeseburger flavor. Everything you love about a classic burger packed into bite-sized slider goodness.
  • The creamy, tangy burger sauce steals the show. It’s the reason people go back for “just one more.”
  • Perfect for game days and parties. Make a tray, slice, and watch a room full of people lose their minds.
  • Kid-approved. Zero complaints. Zero leftovers. Maximum happy chaos.
  • Feeds a crowd without stress. These sliders scale beautifully — double the tray, same effort.
  • 35-minute magic. Not quite 30, but still firmly in the “I can pull this off tonight” camp.

What You'll Need & Why

Everything you need to make these easy baked Cheeseburger Sliders with creamy tangy burger sauce.

For the Burger Filling

  • Ground Beef — the juicy base of these easy cheeseburger sliders.
  • Onions (diced) — adds sweetness and classic burger flavor.
  • All-Purpose Seasoning — a quick way to build that “smashburger” flavor without fuss.

For the Cheese Layer

  • Cheddar Cheese Slices — melty, sharp, perfect for sliders.
  • Monterey Jack Cheese — creamy and mild; use any combo you love for the ultimate cheesy pull.

For the Buns

  • Slider Rolls or Hawaiian Rolls — soft, fluffy, and perfect for baked cheeseburger sliders.
  • Butter (melted) — for brushing the tops and building golden color.
  • Worcestershire Sauce — adds savory depth to the bun topping.
  • Sesame Seeds — that classic cheeseburger finish.

For the Creamy Tangy Burger Sauce

  • Ketchup — sweet and classic.
  • Mayonnaise — creamy base that ties everything together.
  • Whole Grain Mustard — a little bite + texture.
  • Sweet Chili Sauce — adds tangy sweetness and subtle heat.
  • Tamari — a salty umami kick (use soy sauce if you prefer).
  • Dill Pickle Relish — the tangy crunch that makes this dipping sauce unforgettable.

Swaps & Flavor-Boosting Variations

Here are a ton of fun ways to riff on these baked Cheeseburger Sliders and make them perfect for weeknights, game days, or feeding a hungry crowd.

  • Swap the beef — use rotisserie chicken, ground turkey, ground chicken, pork, venison, or elk for a leaner or richer slider.
  • Make them spicy — add sriracha to the burger sauce or sauté jalapeños with the onions for a little heat.
  • Switch up the cheese — American, provolone, pepper jack, Swiss, smoked gouda, or even creamy brie all melt beautifully.
  • Try different buns — Hawaiian rolls, brioche sliders, pretzel buns, or potato rolls all work for these baked cheeseburger sliders.
  • Make Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders — stir in chopped cooked bacon for smoky flavor.
  • Go “Big Mac” style — add shredded lettuce, chopped pickles, and sesame seeds on top.
  • Make Patty-Melt Sliders — swap buns for mini slices of sourdough or rye and use Swiss + caramelized onions.
  • Tex-Mex twist — add taco seasoning and pepper jack cheese, then serve with salsa-ranch or the burger sauce.

Tips and Tricks

A few smart moves to help these easy baked Cheeseburger Sliders turn out juicy, cheesy, and never soggy.

  • Bake the sliders uncovered so the tops can toast and the buns don’t steam and get soggy.
  • Drain excess fat from the cooked beef and onions to prevent the dreaded soggy-bottom situation.
  • Use a cheese–beef–cheese layering system — it seals in juices and keeps the buns from absorbing too much moisture.
  • Brush the buns with the butter mixture while warm so the sesame seeds stick beautifully.
  • Lightly toast the bottom buns before assembly if you want an extra barrier against juices.
  • Use a long serrated knife to cut the tray to keep the cheesy layers intact.
  • Cook the onions until they soften and sweeten — raw onions will steam and add unnecessary moisture.
  • Don’t skimp on the sauce — the creamy, tangy burger sauce is the flavor bomb that ties these sliders together.

Make Ahead Instructions

Perfect for parties, game days, or nights when you want all the work done early.

  • Assemble the sliders completely but do not bake. Cover tightly and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
  • If baking from chilled, add 3–5 extra minutes or bake until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden.
  • Make the beef mixture up to 2 days ahead — store it separately, then rewarm slightly before assembling so it spreads easily.
  • Brush the butter mixture on right before baking for the freshest flavor and best browning.
  • Don’t add sesame seeds until bake time — adding them too early can make them soften in the fridge.
  • Wait to add the burger sauce until serving — keeps everything crisp and prevents sogginess.

Equipment

  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • large skillet
  • chef's knife
  • cutting board

Ingredients

Burger Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup dill pickle relish or sweet if you prefer
  • 2 tablespoon whole grain or stone ground mustard
  • 2 tablespoon ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • kosher salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste

The Cheeseburger Sliders

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1-2 tablespoon all-purpose seasoning
  • ½ med onion, diced
  • 1 dozen slider buns of choice
  • 1 pkg sliced cheddar cheese
  • 8 oz Monterrey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

The Burger Sauce

  • Mix all the burger sauce ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Store in the fridge until ready to serve.

The Cheeseburger Sliders

  • Brown the ground beef along with the onion and your favorite all-purpose seasoning.
  • Grab a baking sheet and line it with parchment paper. Lay out the bottom halves of your chosen slider buns and add one layer of the sliced cheddar cheese. Next, spread the ground beef/onion mixture onto an even layer on top of the sliced cheese.
  • Top the ground beef layer with the shredded Monterrey Jack cheese and add the bun tops.
  • Mix the melted butter and Worcestershire sauce together and brush on the slider tops. Sprinkle the tops with the sesame seeds.
  • Bake in a preheated 400° oven for about 15-20 minutes or the cheese is nice and melty and ooey-gooey!
  • Let cool slightly, pull apart, dip into that glorious burger sauce, and enjoy!

Notes

I serve my burger sauce on the side at the end for dipping because my kids are very picky about sauces. You can do that or spread some in the middle of the burgers before baking. They'll be great either way!

Serving Ideas

Here are my favorite ways to serve these juicy, cheesy, creamy-sauce-dunked Cheeseburger Sliders.

  • Weeknight dinner — serve with chips, fries, tater tots, or a simple side salad.
  • Game day must-have — set the sliders out with bowls of burger sauce, pickles, and jalapeños for dipping and topping.
  • Party platter — bake two trays, slice them cleanly, and watch them disappear faster than anything else on the table.
  • Kid-approved dinner night — pair with fruit or veggies and watch the whole tray vanish.
  • Movie-night meal — sliders + fries + ranch or burger sauce = zero complaints.
  • Summer cookout alternative — great when you want burger vibes without firing up the grill.
  • Potluck favorite — they travel well and stay warm if you wrap the tray in foil.
  • Slider bar moment — set out lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and sauce so everyone can build their own.

Storage & Reheating

Here’s how to store these Cheeseburger Sliders so they stay juicy, cheesy, and delicious the next day.

  • Store leftover sliders in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 10–12 minutes or until the cheese is melty and the buns are warmed through.
  • Air fryer works great too — 3–5 minutes at 350°F brings them right back to life.
  • Microwave in small bursts if you’re in a rush, but note the buns won’t stay as crisp.
  • Store the burger sauce separately so the sliders don’t get soggy.
  • Freezing isn’t ideal — the cheese and buns lose their texture, so stick to fresh or refrigerated leftovers.

You Asked, I Answered

What kind of slider buns do I use?

Use any slider bun you love — Hawaiian rolls, brioche, potato rolls, or classic dinner rolls. I prefer buns that aren’t overly sweet, but this is a total personal-preference bread situation.

What's the best ground beef for cheeseburger sliders?

Go with a leaner blend like 90/10 or 93/7. You can use 80/20, but you’ll have more grease to drain and a higher chance of soggy buns.

How many Cheeseburger Sliders should I plan per person?

Usually 2–3 sliders per person. On a good day my crew can crush more, so plan accordingly. Go big or go home, my friend.
