ingredients
- Salmon - It's mild and buttery and perfect for this recipe. You can also use chicken if fish isn't your thing.
- Mixed Greens - Beautiful and full of color. Again, it makes a stunning, delicious salad.
- Cherry Tomatoes - I love them. They're delicious and you can just add them to this salad whole. No chopping necessary.
- Kalamata Olives - One of my favorite varieties of olive. You can use whatever you love.
- Cucumber - I can't have a salad without cucumber. It would be unnatural.
- Red Onion - It's my favorite variety of onion for salads.
- Feta - For that wonderfully salty bite.
- Greek Yogurt - Gives the dressing tang and a bit of protein.
- Mayonnaise - For creaminess in the dill feta dressing.
- Lemon - Brightens the dressing and adds more tang.
- Fresh Dill - Bring on the fresh herbs. I love dill. If you don't, you can simply leave it out.
- Fresh Parsley - Again, for freshness.
- Fresh Chives - Make it rain. I don't think you can add enough fresh chives.
- Garlic - Measure this with your heart.
- Dried Oregano - Quintessential for Greek cooking. It gives this dressing recipe an earthy, herbal note that is divine.
- Kosher Salt and Fresh Ground Pepper
my opinion on buying salmon
Fresh is best. I know you can get frozen salmon filets at the grocery store and Costco or Sam's. I just do not like them. I've tried all the varieties, in all of the places, and I just can't. When cooked, if feel like it turns to cat food. That's my professional opinion.
When buying salmon, go directly to the fish monger or seafood counter and buy the fresh filets. Avoid farm raised if possible. This way, you'll get that buttery wonderful result that makes salmon the incredible fish it is. Nobody got time for cat food salad. Nobody.

how to make greek salmon salad
One of the true beauties of this salmon is its simplicity. While the salmon roasts in the oven, the dressing is mixed, and the veggies chopped. This recipe easily comes together in 25-30 minutes. It's perfect for those busy days and for when you want something super healthy, but delicious and satisfying.
The Salmon
My family loves salmon and it makes me so happy. It's such wonderful fish - its healthy and, when prepared correctly, it's buttery and delicious. I approach my salmon cooking a little different than some and like to slow-roast mine. This method gives a richness and texture and flavor that is so good we rarely eat salmon any other way. I even have an entire blog post dedicated to one of our favorite proteins - Simple Oven Baked Salmon.
For this Greek Salmon Salad Recipe, we will treat the salmon very simply as we will be making a very zesty and flavorful dressing for the salad. About 30 minutes before you are ready to put your salmon in the oven, remove it from the fridge. Allowing the salmon to not be super cold helps the proteins in the fish to cook more evenly.
Next, season the salmon with kosher salt and pepper and drizzle with a little bit of olive oil. Into a preheated 300° oven it goes and hangs out for about 20-25 minutes. That's it in a nutshell. Salmon does not have to be cooked until well done. It should flake easily with a fork and tender.

The Dressing
The Greek Salmon Salad dressing is nothing more than a bowl of simple, fresh ingredients mixed together. Greek yogurt and mayo make up the base of the dressing. The tanginess comes from the lemon and feta. The fresh herbs and garlic help to round it all out and create a dressing that you will want to keep on hand at all times. This works great as a dip, too!
The Salad
This is another simple step to a wonderfully simple recipe. I use pre-washed mixed greens, cucumbers, red onion, tomato, and Kalamata olives for the salmon salad base. If you don't like any of these things, use what you love. That's the beauty of a big beautiful salad - you can load it up with your favorites!

Protein Variations
If you don't like salmon, no worries at all! Chicken or shrimp would be a great protein substitutions. Grilled steak would be wonderful here, too. And, if you're vegetarian, toss in some roasted chickpeas!
Extra Toppings for the Greek Salmon Salad
Feel free to add extra toppings to this salmon salad recipe. I don't think you can go wrong but soft-boiled eggs or your favorite nuts would be awesome! Roasted pumpkin seeds (pepitas) would also give great crunch. Peperoncinis would add a nice bite and avocado pieces would make this salad even more rich and creamy!
Cheese
I love the tang of feta, but if feta isn't your thing, feel free to try something different! I think crumbled goat cheese would be a great option. However, if you're not a big fan of cheese at all, skip it! This dressing without the cheese will still be awesome - think a very herbaceous ranch.

recipe frequently asked questions
Is this recipe gluten and/or dairy-free?
My Greek Salmon Salad is gluten-free. No need to worry about that.
To make this recipe dairy-free, use your favorite DF Greek yogurt and your favorite crumbly dairy-free cheese instead of the feta. Just a few simple swaps and you'll have an amazing result!
Will this recipe stay good in the fridge?
I would only prepare the amount of salad you will consume in one sitting. Store the salad components separately until you're ready to use them. It might get a wee bit soggy otherwise. Stored separately, this salad will stay good up to 3 days.
