how to make dill pickle popcorn
Time needed: 5 minutes
For the best Dill Pickle Popcorn ever, simply:
- Make the seasoning mix.
Grab a small mixing bowl, measure the herbs and spices, mix together, and set aside. This mix would also be phenomenal on chicken or fish, by the way!
- Make the pickle butter.
First: Make sure the pickle juice is room temp or slightly warm. If the juice is cold, it will cause the butter to seize up and it will be more difficult to coat the popcorn.
Second: Slowly whisk the pickle juice into the melted butter. You’re basically trying to emulsify this mixture so that the pickle juice becomes incorporated with the butter. If you do this correctly, there will not be any soggy popcorn. - Toss the popcorn.
Our final step in our dill pickle popcorn journey is the toss. Slowly start drizzling and tossing the pickle butter and popcorn. Simultaneously, start adding the seasoning mix. Drizzle, toss, add, and repeat. Keep tossing until all the popcorn is coated.
- Enjoy.
After the popcorn in fully coated in that glorious pickle butter and dill seasoning mix, dive in and enjoy!

In my opinion, fresh made popcorn, because it doesn’t have any preservatives, doesn’t stay good that long. I keep any leftovers for one additional day at most, in an air-tight container in the fridge. If you don’t think you will eat this entire recipe in one day, simply cut the recipe in half.
My Dill Pickle Popcorn is absolutely gluten-free. To make this recipe dairy-free, simply swap the butter out with avocado oil! The recipe can be enjoyed by almost anyone!
If you use bagged popcorn, get a plain type. We are adding a lot of herbs, spices, and butter so you don’t want competing flavors. I use a microwave popcorn popper and it’s amazing. There is no oil or hot pot needed. You just measure and throw it in the microwave. Boom. Popcorn in just a few minutes.
If it was up to me, I would add some spice to this popcorn. I think crushed chili flakes or a little cayenne would be so good for a little kick. And, as always, play with these recipes. Make them your own. If you find something that’s fantastic, let me know!
