I think it's fair to say that there is not a person on the planet that doesn't like a snack mix. If you're in the mood for a wonderfully salty, savory version, my Ranch Snack Mix is just such a recipe. It takes mere minutes to throw together, a short ride in a low oven, and just a few more minutes to cool - if you have that sort of patience.
This recipe is wonderful for all of your upcoming get togethers, game days, and even holiday parties. I love making this for a quick after-school snack and my kids cannot get enough. And, I've never had friend not get excited when I show up with a big bag of this fantastic snack.
Make it once and you'll see exactly what I'm talking it about.
What You'll Need
You probably have most, if not all, of the ingredients in this easy Ranch Snack Mix recipe in your pantry and fridge. Here’s everything you’ll need to make it:
- Butter - Makes the seasoning stick to all of the crunchy things.
- Tajin, Dried Dill Weed, Granulated Onion, Granulated Garlic, Dried Chives, Dried Parsley - The ranch seasoning suspects.
- Pretzels, Corn Chex, Rice Chex, Wheat Chex, CheezIts - The cereals and crackers.
- Pistachios and Cashews - My favorite nut combination.
Tools of the Trade
We all know this is a simple recipe and you don't need much outside the usual suspects for equipment. However, what you do need is a big, flipping bowl. A BIG one.
Why? Because a big, flipping bowl will hold all of the things for this ranch snack mix without it ending up on the countertop, the floor, or the dog. I would know about all of that.
So, if you don't have one, you should get one. You'll use it all the time.

How To Make It
Ranch Snack mix is simple to the point of there is little I need to tell you. I'll give a brief rundown here, but the details will live in the recipe card below.
To begin, you're gonna need a bowl - a very big one. Grab that and simply:
- Measure out the cereals, crackers, pretzels, and nuts.
- Make the seasoning mix.
- Combine everything and bake, tossing every 15 minutes for an hour.
- Cool.
- Now, dive in and devour it all. Do not share. You will want it all for yourself. I kid. But, not really.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have any other snack mix recipes?
Why, yes. Yes, I do. Try savory snack mix for a more classic taste. It's equally as devour-able. I'm making this a word now. Carry on.
Can I make this recipe gluten-free?
You can! Rice and Corn Chex are both gluten-free. Omit the Wheat Chex. Substitute with your favorite GF pretzels and crunchy snack crackers.
Tips and Tricks
- Pour the butter mixture over the snack mix quickly, tossing as you go. This will help prevent lumps and soggy things.
- Do not try to make this snack mix on one baking sheet. It's too much and the cereals and crackers will not get crispy. Not to mention you will make a massive mess.
- Ensure you have the oven temperature set to low (250°F). If you accidentally set it any higher, the snack mix will burn. How do I know this? Because I have done this. TWICE. Don't be like me. Double check the temp.

This is my kids favorite. We made it during the holidays and haven’t quit eating it since. I add whatever cereal we have and change up the nuts, but it’s great!
