A good homemade Cajun Seasoning is definitely something you need in your spice arsenal. It's zesty, smoky, a little spicy - all of the wonderful things I love. This recipe takes less than 5 minutes to throw together. Make it once, try it, and you'll use it on everything.

mixed cajun spices for a seasoning blend

let's chat!

I've said it once, and I'll say it again, make your own seasoning blends. They take no time to make. Within minutes you can have the most amazing spice blend that you will use over and over again. Also, you can customize the flavors. Like your Cajun seasoning a little spicier? Add some cayenne or crush pepper flakes.

Something else I love about making my own spice blends is that there are zero fillers or strange anti-caking agents. If you look at the ingredient list in a lot of store bought seasoning blends, you'll notice there are substances in there to prevent the spices from sticking together. They are not necessary, and a lot of times, not good for you.

And lastly, making your own seasoning blends will save you money. I keep a very basic collection of spices and herbs in my pantry. At almost anytime, I can create a blend for a number of recipes. I'm not paying an ludicrous amount of money for something I can make myself in just a few minutes.

You guys pay attention because this next part is going to go quick. Take all of the ingredients and mix them together. Boom. Done.

If you like a spicier cajun seasoning, add some cayenne or crush red pepper flakes to taste.

For storage, keep this seasoning mix in an airtight container and it will last up to a year. I can promise you that you'll like this seasoning blend so much, you won't be storing any that long!

What other recipes can I use this cajun seasoning with?

I love sprinkling this stuff on everything under the sun. Steaks, veggies, and my morning eggs are perfect examples. Other recipes include:

My seasoning blends are always gluten and dairy-free. No need to worry!

Can I make this recipe spicier?

Yes! Absolutely! If you want to kick things up a bit, feel free to add as much cayenne or red chili flakes as your heart tells you. I think ground dried chipotle would also be a lovely, smokey touch! Make this recipe your own!
