Pull Up A Chair & Let's Chat!

This Greek Chicken Salad is the kind of recipe you make once and then keep on repeat — fresh, flavorful, and actually filling. It’s easy enough for a busy weeknight, great for meal prep, and the kind of salad that proves “healthy” food can still be crave-worthy.

Why This Greek Chicken Salad Works

  • Creamy dill feta dressing: Tangy, herby, and rich enough to make this salad feel like a real meal, not a side dish.
  • Big texture contrast: Crunchy cucumbers, crisp romaine, juicy tomatoes, and briny olives keep every bite interesting.
  • High-protein and satisfying: Tender chicken turns this into a hearty, dinner-worthy salad that actually fills you up.
  • Mediterranean flavor payoff: Classic Greek ingredients deliver bold flavor without needing a long ingredient list.
  • Meal-prep friendly: Everything holds up beautifully when stored separately, making it perfect for lunches all week.
  • Weeknight easy: Rotisserie chicken and a quick homemade dressing mean you’re eating well without extra effort.

What You'll Need & Why

The Creamy Dill Feta Dressing

Full-fat Greek yogurt: Creates a creamy, tangy base for the dressing without feeling heavy.
Mayonnaise: Adds richness and balance to keep the dressing smooth and craveable.
Feta cheese: Brings salty, briny Greek flavor that makes the dressing pop.
Fresh chives: Mild onion flavor that keeps things fresh and not overpowering.
Fresh dill: The signature herb that gives the dressing its bold, Mediterranean character.
Dried oregano: A classic Greek herb that ties everything together.
Garlic: Adds depth and savory backbone to the dressing.
Lemon juice: Brightens and balances the creamy elements with a little acidity.

The Salad

Mixed greens: A crisp, fresh base that holds up well to the creamy dressing.
Persian or snacking cucumbers: Extra crunch with minimal seeds and wateriness.
Cherry tomatoes: Juicy and sweet for contrast.
Avocado: Adds creaminess and makes the salad feel hearty and satisfying.
Red onion: Sharp bite to cut through the richness.
Kalamata olives: Briny, salty flavor that screams Greek salad.
Rotisserie or cooked chicken: A protein-packed shortcut that turns this into a filling, dinner-worthy salad.

Swaps & Flavor-Boosting Variations

This Greek chicken salad recipe is flexible and forgiving, so feel free to mix things up and make it your own.

Add bell peppers: Slice red or yellow peppers for extra color, crunch, and sweetness.
Swap proteins: Use grilled chicken breasts or thighs instead of rotisserie for smoky, charred flavor. Everything from grilled steak to leftover roasted pork tenderloin and even grilled shrimp would be fantastic in this salad!
Quinoa or farro boost: Mix in cooked quinoa or farro to make the salad more filling and grain-forward.
Chickpeas for texture: Add rinsed chickpeas for a plant-powered twist and extra fiber.
Fresh herbs: Stir in mint, parsley, or basil for added brightness and herb complexity.
Tzatziki dressing swap: Trade the dill feta dressing for creamy tzatziki for a classic gyro vibe.
Pita croutons: Toss in toasted pita cubes for irresistible crunch.
Pepperoncini or roasted red peppers: Add a tangy, mildly spicy kick with pepperoncini or roasted peppers.

Tips & Tricks

Before you toss everything together, here are a few simple tips to help this Greek Chicken Salad turn out perfectly every time.

  • Store components separately: Keep the salad ingredients and dressing separate until serving to maintain crunch and freshness.
  • Chop evenly: Cutting everything to a similar size ensures balanced flavor and texture in every bite.
  • Season as you go: Lightly salt the vegetables before assembling to bring out their natural flavor.
  • Use cold chicken: Chilled chicken mixes better with the dressing and keeps the salad crisp.
  • Thin the dressing if needed: Add a splash of water or extra lemon juice to loosen the dressing to your liking.
  • Make it ahead: The dressing actually improves after a few hours in the fridge, making this perfect for meal prep.
  • Dress just before serving: Tossing at the last minute prevents soggy greens and keeps everything vibrant.

  • Meal prep tip: Portion the salad and dressing separately so you can toss just before eating for the best texture.

You Asked, I Answered

Is this recipe gluten-free and/or dairy-free?

This Greek Chicken Salad is naturally gluten-free with no substitutions needed. The dill feta dressing does contain dairy, but you can make it dairy-free by using an unsweetened non-dairy yogurt and swapping the feta for nutritional yeast or a dairy-free feta alternative.

Can I use dried herbs instead fresh?

Absolutely. Dried herbs work well here—just use less than you would fresh, since they’re more concentrated, and adjust to taste.

Can I make the dressing ahead of time?

Definitely. The dill feta dressing can be made up to 5 days in advance and actually gets better as the flavors meld.

Can I make this Greek chicken salad more filling?

For an even heartier salad, add chickpeas, quinoa, or air fryer croutons to turn it into a true dinner-sized meal.

What can I use instead of feta?

If feta isn’t your thing, try goat cheese for extra creaminess or leave it out entirely—the dressing will still be flavorful and tangy.
